Media Intelligence: How to use Boolean operators?
- AND operator is implicit. By specifying multiple keywords you require that all those keywords should appear in the results.
- OR operator. You can specify that you wish to find articles mentioning any of the given keywords by putting an OR between the keywords.
- NOT operator can be used by simply putting the – (minus) before the keyword. This will make sure the results do not contain the given keyword/phrase. You can also use the minus sign in other search boxes to exclude certain locations, news sources, or categories.
The picture below is showing how to define a search to get news articles (or events) which talk about Barack Obama or Donald Trump but do not include news articles about climate change.
