What are events?

An event is a collection of one or more news articles that all report about the same world event. In Event Registry, an event is any significant happening in the world that is reported by multiple news sources. This definition is based on the assumption that if something is significant enough, various news publishers will report about it.

For each event, we might identify articles that report about the event in different languages.
